The MQ Power DCA-20 WhisperWatt is a 20 kW prime (22 kW standby) portable diesel generator with Isuzu power and single-phase-only 120/240V output. It matches the DCA-25's prime power rating but omits the three-phase capability, serving applications that only need single-phase.

At 65 dB(A) at 23 feet with a 41.7-gallon integral tank, the DCA-20 delivers the full WhisperWatt experience in the single-phase configuration. The Isuzu engine at 1800 RPM provides the same fuel efficiency and long-life advantages as the rest of the Isuzu-powered lineup.

Single-phase vs three-phase — when the DCA-20 is the right spec#

If the load is purely single-phase (residential, small commercial, lighting), the DCA-20 is the correct specification over the DCA-25. The single-phase alternator is optimized for that duty, and you avoid paying for three-phase capability that won't be used.

What's the difference between the DCA-20 and DCA-25?
Both deliver 20 kW prime, but the DCA-20 is single-phase only (120/240V) while the DCA-25 is switchable single/three-phase (including 208V, 480V). Choose the DCA-20 when you only need single-phase output — the simplified alternator configuration is optimized for that use case.
Can the DCA-20 power a house with central AC?
At 20 kW, the DCA-20 can handle a full residential load including a small central AC system (up to about 3 tons). Larger homes with 4-5 ton AC units will exceed the available power during compressor startup.
